Hampshire Patio Services isn’t a franchise or a sales operation. We’re a family-owned and family-run patio business, started by one Hampshire family in 1996, and still owned and operated by the same family today.
That matters because when you call us, you talk to the family. When we come to quote, it’s the family. When we install your patio, it’s our family team — not a contractor we’ve never met. And when something needs sorting in five years’ time, the family is still here to answer the phone.
We’ve installed patios for hundreds of Hampshire families — some of whom we’re now installing for the second or third time as their gardens evolve.

What Our Customers Say
“Used the family team for our porcelain patio last summer. Polite, on time every day, and the finished job is genuinely beautiful. Couldn’t fault them.”
“Brilliant from quote to completion. As a family-run business they actually care about the result. Our new sandstone patio has had compliments from every neighbour.”
“We’ve had them back three times now — patio, then garden walls, then a path. They feel like part of the family at this point. Honest, tidy, properly skilled.”
Why a family-run patio company is different
When you hire a national chain or a one-man-band with subcontractors, you don’t really know who’s turning up at your house. With a family business like ours, the people who quote you, install your patio, and look after you afterwards are all the same family team.
That means decisions made fairly, problems sorted personally, and a reputation we genuinely have to live up to — because our family name is on every patio we leave behind.
Every patio is built on a properly excavated and compacted sub-base with proper falls, drainage and edging that will outlast cheaper alternatives by decades.
More About Our Family
Patio FAQs
Are you really a family-owned business?
Yes — properly. Hampshire Patio Services has been owned and run by the same Hampshire family since 1996. When you call us you speak to family members, when we quote it’s the family team that visits, and the same family team installs every patio. No franchise, no sales reps, no subcontractors we’ve never met.
How do I choose between porcelain, sandstone and block paving?
Porcelain is the modern premium choice — virtually maintenance-free, slip-rated, frost-proof, and stays colour-true. Indian sandstone is the classic, hard-wearing, ages beautifully. Block paving offers the most flexibility on pattern and colour. As a general rule from our family team: modern homes suit porcelain or granite; traditional homes suit sandstone or block paving.
Do I need planning permission for a new patio?
For most domestic patios, no — they fall under permitted development if they’re less than 50% of your garden area and use permeable construction or drain to a soakaway. We design every patio to be compliant from the start. Listed buildings, conservation areas and AONB locations may need consent — we’ll flag this at the site visit if it applies.
How long does a patio installation take?
Most residential patios from our family team take 4-8 working days, depending on size, materials, drainage requirements and weather. Larger projects with walls, steps or pergolas may run two to three weeks. We give you a written schedule with your quote.
What areas of Hampshire do you cover?
Our family team covers the whole of Hampshire and the surrounding counties — including Fareham, Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth, Petersfield, Eastleigh, Gosport, Romsey, Hamble, Hayling Island, Basingstoke, Chichester, and the New Forest.
How much does a new patio cost?
It depends on size, materials, drainage, edgings, and any walls or extras. As a rough family-business guide: a small sandstone patio typically starts from around £2,800, mid-size porcelain patios with proper drainage tend to be £5,000-£10,000, and larger premium patios with walls, lighting or steps range upwards. Always a full written quote at no charge.
